El objetivo del desarrollo es mejorar el comportamiento de frenado en comparación con el disco de freno original. EBC utiliza acero HPSR con un bajo contenido en carbono, que presenta un coeficiente de fricción un 18 % superior. Este acero es considerablemente más resistente a la oxidación que el acero fundido.
